  • May 2, 2007. my wife and I drove up to buy the plane. It's about a 4-4.5 hour drive, but it was nice. We pulled into the airport. I parked the car, and my wife suddenly sat bolt upright with a look of horror on her face. Absolutely mortified, she turned to me with a mortified look on her face and said "Honey, I'm sooo sorry..." Around this time, I began to suspect something wasn't quite right. It turns out she had left the certified check back home. DOH!

Next day, I hitched a ride to Portland, and the seller was kind enough to fly to Troutdale (KTTD) to pick me up. I returned the favor by dropping him off back home instead of ditching him in Portland.

I bought the plane in Shelton, WA (KSHN) and flew it back to Creswell, OR (77S) on May 3, 2007. Took quite a while, had to make good use of the weather resources to stay away from storms, but made it back safely after a stopover at Troutdale (Gorge Winds Aviation, nice people).

    I are plane owner!

The seller, Curt. Nice guy, upgrading to a Cessna Cardinal. Hey buddy, the wings on that thing are on upside down!

A sunny day in beautiful Shelton, WA.

    Navigating around storms.

You stay over there, Mr. Thundercloud.

It's hard to look suave and cool when you're obviously taking a picture of yourself.

  • Flying through rain (movie)

  • There's gotta be sun around here somewhere...

I think I'll pop up a bit to get over this storm.

Ok, I'm at 9,000ft. Hope there's a break in the clouds ahead....

Pulling into Troutdale for some water and a break. Two hours to get from Shelton, usually a 1 hour flight!

Nice up ahead, not so night to the right. I'll skip Salem today.

Aw hell, who am I fooling? This is fun!

Oregon welcomes me in the traditional fashion.

My favorite picture from the trip.

    Almost home!

A neat perspective of a shower.

Home again, home again, jiggedy jig!

On second thought, I'll steal some covered parking. There was a rumor of hail.
