From BeginWiki
Begin is a turn-based tactical starship simulator for Windows. You command between one and a hundred ships in combat against an enemy fleet with extensive control over systems and an intuitive command language (Examples: "fire all torpedoes", "tractor Saratoga", and "helm 270, warp 5"). You can torpedo, phaser, tractor, even capture enemy ships. The first version was released in 1985, another major version in 1989, and then the newest release in 2009. Development continues and there is an active online community on Yahoo! Groups.
The game was inspired by Trek 73, a 1973 HP 2000C computer game written in HP Time-Share Basic
